Domaine de la Petite Gallée
Coteaux du Lyonnais, Vallée du Rhône
Located in Millery, about fifteen kilometres south-west of Lyon, the Domaine de la Petite Gallée has been owned by the Thollet family since 1945. Today run by Patrice Thollet with his son Pierre, it covers approximately thirteen hectares of vines, a significant part of which is grouped around the Clos de la Petite Gallée. Robert Thollet, Patrice's father, contributed to the recognition of the Coteaux du Lyonnais appellation in 1984. Patrice began a conversion to organic farming in 2003, achieved in 2007, and then gradually introduced biodynamics from 2012. The estate has been a member of Biodyvin since 2018.
The vines rest mainly on very stony fluvioglacial moraines, characteristic of this area located at the gates of Lyon. Gamay is the historical grape variety for reds, while Chardonnay and Aligoté hold an important place for whites. The estate also cultivates Syrah, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Altesse, or Petite Arvine, allowing for a particularly broad interpretation of this still too little-known vineyard.
