Clos Durandière

Montreuil-Bellay, Loire Valley

From a family of winemakers, Étienne Bodet created Clos Durandière in Montreuil-Bellay in 2019. Before settling down, he built a particularly comprehensive path with several references from the French vineyard. He trained notably with Sylvain Pataille in Burgundy and Pierre Gerbais in Champagne, then obtained his national diploma in oenology in Reims in 2020. He then joined Clos Rougeard, where he oversaw the vinifications of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 vintages.

The estate currently has 6.5 hectares of chenin and cabernet franc around Montreuil-Bellay. Its parcels are distinguished by particularly varied geology, between tuffeau, Jurassic limestone, and marl formations. Far from any dogmatism, Étienne approaches the vine with a scientific approach and meticulous observation of each vine.

At Clos Durandière, mechanical soil work replaces permanent grass cover to preserve the natural nitrogen of the soil, ensuring pure fermentations. Every action, from soil management to pruning, is designed to maximise the longevity of the plant and allow the terroir to express itself.
